Who Made My Clothes?

Meet Catak, our head seamstress and the proud owner of her own production company. Leading a team of skilled seamstresses, including her talented daughter, Catak has been an integral part of our journey since the beginning of Mewd. Our decision to work with her and produce locally in Berlin has not only been driven by our commitment to support people from our community but also by our dedication to minimizing our environmental impact.

You might ask: Why is there minimal environmental impact when we produce locally?

Opting for local production minimizes environmental impact by reducing the need for shipping and transportation, resulting in lower carbon emissions and energy consumption. This aligns with our sustainability goals and reduces our overall carbon footprint.

Catak's expertise lies in the art of working with Linen, and she has also mastered working with our favourite bamboo silk material. Crafting garments with bamboo silk demands meticulous attention to detail due to its delicate nature. Through her skilled hands and unwavering dedication, Catak brings an unparalleled level of craftsmanship to each piece she creates.

While Mewd’s primary focus is on being a company rather than claiming complete sustainability (which we believe is impossible), our aspiration is to continually enhance our practices and find better solutions for what is already out there. Our aim is to develop methods for crafting garments with reduced waste and a more minimal impact on the environment. As well as creating designs that are desirable and feel good on your skin.

As we are neither a large corporation nor engaged in mass production, our made-to-order approach affords us the luxury of time to devise and implement effective solutions for these challenges.
